How Practical Are Outdoor Carpet Tiles?
Posted by John Howard under Home ImprovementBoth outdoor carpet tiles and grass outdoor carpeting are types of outdoor carpeting. The tiles are easy to transport and install. They can fit in any room of the house, generally better than grass carpet, with less waste. They come in a variety of colors and can be mixed to custom fit any decor. Grass outdoor carpeting is best used for patios and decks. Both reduces noise levels and helps when heating a room.
Like the other types of outdoor carpet Outdoor carpet tiles are as resilient. They are especially useful in areas where there will be a lot of activity. Another nice thing is you only need to replace a few damaged tiles instead of the entire carpet. Because it has padding built in there is no need to use additional padding. These factors save time and money
It is best to use tiles on hard floors like cement, stone ceramic and wood. Interlocking tiles should be used for patio and deck, because their design allows for moisture drainage.
The tiles should sit for 24 hours in the room before installation. This allows them to adjust to humidity and temperature levels. You should make sure the floor is clean before installing outdoor carpet tiles.
Installation is easy. All you do is peal off the backing and press down. Be sure to properly align the arrows otherwise your pile will not go in the same direction.
Another type of outdoor carpet is grass outdoor carpeting made with olefin. It isn’t as expensive as the other outdoor carpets and it’s easer to maintain than the others. Since it is chemically treated it is often used for areas exposed to the sun rays and other harmful weather elements. Genera this type of carpet is stain moisture and fade resistant.
Before buying grass outdoor carpeting you should decide what it will be used for. Will it be exposed to pool chemicals, moisture or the sun? If it will you need to buy carpet with marine backing otherwise you will be fighting with mold and mildew. The carpet you purchase should be protected from fading and harmful chemicals. If the area it will be placed is high traffic then you need thicker carpeting. This will increase life of the carpets.
When you are deciding between grass outdoor carpeting and outdoor carpet tiles keep in mind that grade grass because of its chemical protection can be used for patios, decks and play grounds. Tiles do better in protected areas.
